Your Fire Company

The Volunteer Spirit lives in Franklin Township...

The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company began operations in 1972, offering fire protection to Franklin Township in Carbon County Pennsylvania. Designated County Fire District 4, we provide traditional fire protection, emergency vehicle rescue, grid search/rescue, HazMat first response, First Responder medical first aid and community fire safety and prevention training.
Our Fire Police perform traffic and crowd control duties. The Quick Response Squad (QRS) whose members are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) respond directly to emergency scenes to administer emergency BLS (basic life support) patient care. The Auxiliary are fire company members dedicated to supporting the fire company through our various fundraising and hall rental activities.
Operating out of our centrally located Fairyland Road facility, we cover the entire township and The Pennsylvania Turnpike (12 miles Northbound and 14 miles Southbound) located in Franklin and Penn Forrest Townships and the Boro of Parryville. Average annual calls for the company now total more than 200.
The goal of your fire company is to provide the highest quality services to our community. Dedication to the call and regular weekly training are central to our service philosophy. Monday evening is our designated in-house drill night and our attendance figures show a high degree of participation. All active firefighters receive annual training in HazMat Operations, Basic First Aid and CPR. In addition, our responders receive advanced training through the Pennsylvania Fire Academy in areas such as Essentials of Firefighting, Pump Operations, Rope, Water, Vehicle and Confined Space rescue.
Our active Firefighters are certified Basic Vehicle Rescue Technicians and many of our firefighters are certified to the Firefighter 1 level and are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). In compliance with state regulations, our fire truck operators have EVOC (emergency vehicle driver training) and most hold a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL).

The Franklin Twp Fire Company is a certified PA Dept of Health Swift Water Rescue Team. This distinct accreditation makes us a valuable resource for the safety of our community and in the event of a regional water emergency, puts us on the statewide call-out roster.

Of course none of this would be possible without the cooperation and generosity of our friends and neighbors who support the fire company in ways too numerous to mention. Your contributions through our annual fund drive, holiday boot drives, participation in our numerous fund raising activities and donations of time and resources are what make all this a reality.
